Minimum Wage/ Estate Tax.
The House considered the estate tax bill (H.R. 5638) under a rule that did not allow consideration of an amendment to raise the federal minimum wage from $5.15 to $7.25. It is unconscionable to pass yet another tax break worth billions of dollars for the wealthiest 0.3 percent of American families while refusing to consider a pay increase for the lowest-paid workers. The procedural maneuver to avoid a vote on the minimum wage was approved.
