Senate Votes to Save Wages for Farm Workers.

The Senate voted to table an amendment (effectively killing the amendment) offered by Sen. Chambliss (R-GA) that would have lowered the wages of farm workers significantly. The amendment would have destroyed the “AgJOBS” compromise reached by the hard work of Sens. Craig (R-ID), Feinstein (D-CA) and Kennedy (D-MA) in collaboration with agribusiness employers, farm worker organizations, and a bipartisan group of Members of the House. This compromise comes from many years of difficult negotiations by employers and workers and is crucial in protecting the wages of farm workers in America.
