S.149 - The Export Administration Act of 2001.
S.149 would modernize the export control system. In particular, it included important provisions that would eliminate the obsolete concept of MTOP's (millions of theoretical operations per second) from consideration of a product's national security implications. Repeal of the MTOPs standard is a top priority. The bill was passed.The Center for Security Policy
Weaken Export Controls.
The Enzi (R-WY) legislation weakened U.S. controls over sensitive, dual use exports. Adopted.
