The Veterans Affairs, Housing, and Independent Agencies appropriations bill for fiscal year 2002. Senator Charles Schumer offered an amendment to allocate $15 million out of the Public Housing Drug Elimination Program so that the Department of Housing and Urban development could continue to fund community-based gun buyback programs. The amendment failed (was tabled).
