CHAMPIONING HEALTHY KIDS Act.

While this bill would extend funding for programs such as the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and community health centers, it would also impose damaging funding cuts to other essential health care programs, such as the Prevention and Public Health Fund, and reduces health coverage under the Affordable Care Act. The bill passed the House amended.

National Catholic Social Justice Lobby

Championing Healthy Kids Act of 2017 (H.R. 3922).

This group opposed this bill. While it included important provisions to extend funding for the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and Community Health Centers, it also included deep cuts to public health funding, risky changes to Medicaid and Medicare financing, and new barriers for families to access affordable health care coverage in the private marketplace. Passed.

Alliance for Retired Americans

Medicare Means-Testing.

Representative Walden, R-OR, introduced legislation to reauthorize the Children’s Health Insurance Act (CHIP). The bill reauthorizes the program by 5 years, but pays for it by increasing Medicare premiums on higher income beneficiaries. The bill passed. H.R. 3922.
